problem with firefox
 
I installed firefox browser on mandrake linux 10.0 with kde 3.2 and when i start it in user mode ir just loads in the taskbar and the closes can anyone help me :newbie:

It sounds like it is corrupt. I would reinstall firefox. They just released a new (bug-fixed) version the other day so it is a good idea to reinstall anyway.

I'm willing to bet you installed it as root, right?

I had a similar problem and it is probably a permissions problem. I think as user when running the firefox startup script you don't have the proper permissions to run, read certain files.

I fixed the problem by uninstalkling and then reinstalling in /usr/local.

I installed it as a user from an rpm package i don't know where it installed :( if you can help me i haven't sorted the problem yet :newbie:how do i install it when i download it from their website ?

Simply extract it with Ark then click on the installer - straightforward.

That's what i've done but when i try to start it nothing happens :confused: i installed it in Documents/Firefox/firefox-installer/firefox and nothing happens when i click firefox :cry: :scratch:

try it from the command line,
cd /Documents/Firefox/firefox-installer/ (or whatever the directory you have it in is called)
./firefox-instaler

this shoiuld start up an installer screen just like in Windows. Tell it to install in /usr/local (I know that has propewr permissions)
