problem with acpi_power_down
 
hi,
i'm using fedora core 3...while shutting down acpi_power_down is called...and it hangs...power is not switched off...

any ideas?

It is a known bug in FC3... I haven't had a chance to read through it for suggestions of workarounds, but if you google for it there's a fair few people in the same boat as you so with any luck you can come up with something to get around it.

I've read somewhere that acpi_power_off can call deep threads and take up to 5 minutes to work - IIRC that may have been in the Cooker project, but in any case you might want to leave your PC saying "acpi_power_off called" while you make a cup of tea, to see if it is actually not working, or just very very slow.
