problem on run a makefile

Dear Friends,

When I run my makefile (see following) I encountered with the following message:

gcc Online_ana.o fppdaq.o SentEvent2Root.o bina_unpack.o tcpip.o -o BINA ../cdaq/Debug.a ../elec_lib/Elec.a -lpthread -lg2c -lcrypt -ldl -lm -lnsl
../cdaq/Debug.a: could not read symbols: File in wrong format
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [BINA] Error 1

I have a system with Krenel Linux 2.6.35.14-96.fc14.x86_64 and Root version of 5.28.
here is my Makefile:

CC = gcc
CFLAGS = -c -Wall
LD = gcc

# sources
CSRCS = Online_ana.c fppdaq.c SentEvent2Root.c bina_unpack.c tcpip.c

OBJS = $(CSRCS:.c=.o)

INCLDS = -I. -I../cdaq -I../elec_lib -I../common

DEFS = -DLinux86 -DAnalysis -DOSF1

LIBS = -lpthread -lg2c -lcrypt -ldl -lm -lnsl
CDAQLIB = ../cdaq/Debug.a ../elec_lib/Elec.a

BINA: $(OBJS)
$(LD) $(OBJS) -o $@ $(CDAQLIB) $(LIBS)

.c.o:
$(CC) $(CFLAGS) $(DEFS) $(INCLDS) $<

clean:
rm -f *.o *~ core ./BINA

It will be appreciable your help.

As you can see from the output some are ELF32, some are ELF64, you CANNOT mix them. Recompile them all to ELF64.

I use Linux 2.6 and do not recommend unnecessary updating if you are a program developer.
I am going through that and the bugs and inconsistencies are outnumbering the new features.
Both my editor and debugger are hampering me right now.

Upon seeing the .a extension, I first thought they were libraries and you just forgot the -l so gcc thinks they are objects. But seeing those headers, I do not see any hints that they are libraries (which I do not remember right now, so look at a known static library (.a) if you are unsure too).

I am considering that you compiled libraries of one object each. I did that once, but cannot remember what the headers looked like.

But how did you get both ELF32 and ELF64 binaries ? Strange, if you are compiling them yourself. If you are getting them from another source then there are always possible issues of binary compatibility with this gcc. I am unsure about how far the standard ELF formats support linking with foreign binaries.

I am on the wrong machine to check these things for you right now, but double check yourself.

if you NEED the 2.6 kernel
then install CentOS 6.5
it still has 4 YEARS of support left in it

using a dead and very unsupported OS with KNOWN AND NOW FIXED ( in 20 ) SECURITY HOLES is never a good idea .
