Problem on launching x11 graphical session of nam/ xgraph for NS-2

Hi,

I am trying to install nam-1.12 and xgraph-12.1 for NS-2 simulation on Fedora 8, GNOME. The installation is fine, but when I try to use it. The following error messages are shown.
'nam: no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable'
'xgraph: cannot open display `'

Should it mean that I am trying to launch nam/xgraph out of a X11 graphical session. How can I solve this problem?

Thank you for any clues
/J

And are you trying to launch nam/xgraph out of a X11 session?
If yes, the solution is: launch X
/etc/init.d/gdm start or something like that.

Thanks a lot Agrouf!

I have tried #/etc/init.d/gpm start, but it does not work. The same error messages are still shown when I am trying to use nam/xgraph.

Any other suggestion?

You have to have an Xorg or XFree server running to launch your app it seems.
Does startx work?
Do you have a desktop environment installed?
