Administrative commands like 'yum' : Please use 'su' [switch user].
$ su <enter root password>

And this will do for ns2 :
# yum install gcc-c++ autoconf automake libtool libXmu-devel

( The other X11* packages are dependencies for libXmu-devel.
Will be installed automatically.
Just like you are used to, from Ubuntu.)

normally you would install the "Development Tools" group
Code:
su -
-- type in the root password --
yum groupinstall "Development Tools"
but do to a handy sort of bug
installing " gcc-c++ " pulls all the needed other programs ( or should )

Which image ?

Quote:
modify the leach_test
'leach_test' is a text file.
Holds all the options for the leach simulation.

How to edit a text file : $ gedit leach_test
( Or use any other editor instead of 'gedit'.)
