Problem "No rule to make target"


hi all, i am completely new to linux.
when i run "make snark" command its gives me following error

make: *** No rule to make target `org/klomp/snark/BitField.java', needed by `snark'. Stop.



i have check BitField.java file is present in the folder and compiled suceefully.

Can any1 help me

Spell out your words, please.

Chances are you don't have a makefile in there. Where did you get this software? Did you take a look at the installation instructions that came with the package?? Not all Linux software is distributed the same way...some have a configure script that builds the Makefile for you, others have a file you have to rename.

When you run make you need to run it from the directory with the makefile in it.
