Problem MPlayer

Hi!
I've this problem: when i start MPlayer (both mplayer and gmplayer) using the -vo xv the screen is completely blue and i can hear only the audio.
However, if i use -vo x11 everything goes fine.
What do I have to do?
How can I configure the xv?
Thanks!

You should have a mplayer config file you can change these default values in so you don't have to type it everytime.

man mplayer for great documentation on mplayer.
