Problem making d4x...

After I finally managed to extract it, I did the usual in the directory where I extracted it; configure worked fine, but when I tried to 'make' it, it went fine for a bit, but then it gave me some errors and stopped.

Here's the last lines (it's not all of it, just the ones I think are relevant, if you want, I can post the rest.)

Code:
Making all in face

bump again Damnit!

This is a very late reply but I just installed d4x(v2.4.1) to try it out and also had some difficulties getting it to compile. I found some solution(s) on the d4x talks(forums). There are gtk problems with in the code. I think it's written using an older version of gtk libraries and so building from a system with a newer version of the gtk stuff freaks the compiler out a little. Step 1 is suggested to fix that "gtk_timeout_add" error and/or step 2 is for preventing subsequent "_gtk_accel_group_attach" errors in the build. After a successful ./configure :

1) edit the resulting config.h by commenting out or just deleting the line:

#define GTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED

2) to find files with bad 'gtk_accel_group_attach' function you can use:

grep -r 'gtk_accel_group_attach' ../your_d4x_dir_here/

results are lmenu.cc and list.cc in the folder ../your_d4x_dir_here/main/face/ so edit lmenu.cc and replace all instances of:

_gtk_accel_group_attach(accel_group,G_OBJECT(MainWindow));

with:

gtk_window_add_accel_group((GtkWindow*) MainWindow,accel_group);

and do the same for the file list.cc(and any other that shows if you grepped)

3) make && make install

At least, it's worked so far for me on slack-current(ish)
