problem loading midnight commander in Elastix 1.6 running on CentOS5.3

I recently loaded Elastix 1.6-12, I cannot load the mc.

When I type yum -y install mc
and then mc
I get:
Could not retrieve mirrorlist -5&arch=i386 error was
[Errno 4] IPError:<urlopen error (-3, 'Temorary failrure in name resolution')>
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: ipel

When I type vi /etc/yum.conf I see this:

# Note: yum-RHN-plugin doesn’t honor this.
Install only_limit = 5

# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d

I don't know how to edit in vi. I am very new to Linux. I need to put Polycom templates in the php code in the /var/www/html/modules/endpoint_configuration/libs/vendors
directory by the "End Point Manager"

Thanks for your help.

seeing as the cent repos are for 5.4 now and not 5.3 ....

what repos do you have installed
there are a bunch that conflict with others and can KILL a install
have you read through the cent repo wiki page?

centos5, yum conf
