Unhappy problem loading firmware for speedtouch 330 adsl modem

I have got this speedtouch 330 adsl modem.while searching for a way to install the drivers i found this tutorial.
http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/LFS/index.html

I followed the instructions, and there was no problem till i finished doing everything.but when I restarted the computer I get an error message saying that firmware was not loaded,

I'm using vector Linux standard 6,and I compiled the speedtouch driver into the kernel,(not as a module).

so if someone had any success with the above or similar situation please let me know.

thanx in advance.

well i did the last part which is instructed here
http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/firmware/index.html

Quote:
Udev

These days udev handles firmware loading. If you compile udev yourself, install the firmware.sh script with the command

make EXTRAS=extras/firmware install
To get udev to load the fimrware you may need to (as root) edit udev's rules configuration file (it's usually called something like /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules). Open it with a text editor and add this line.

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="firmware", RUN+="/lib/udev/firmware.sh"

Before 093 udev installed a binary file called firmware_helper, so if you have an older version of udev change that line to run /lib/udev/firmware_helper instead.

then when I did dmseg i got a part like this

Code:
firmware: requesting speedtch-1.bin.4
firmware: requesting speedtch-1.bin
speedtch 1-1:1.0: found stage 1 firmware speedtch-1.bin
firmware: requesting speedtch-2.bin.4.00
speedtch 1-1:1.0: found stage 2 firmware speedtch-2.bin.4.00
speedtch 1-1:1.0: speedtch_upload_firmware: read BLOCK4 from modem failed (-110)!
speedtch 1-1:1.0: speedtch_heavy_init: firmware upload failed (-110)!
any advice is appreciated

finally got it solved

compiling the kernel and adding speedtouch as a module would solve it
