Problem installing slackware
Hi everyone!well im just a newbie in linux but ive already tried some distros like ubuntu and fedora.well some people told me if i really want to learn more about linux they told me to try out slackware, well here comes the problem when i was done installing slackware i typed in startx and a problem occured it didnt show anything but when i pressed CTRL+ALT+F1 it showed me some stuff and at the end it wrote:
(==)using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" /usr/bin/startkde :line 73: kstartupconfig:command not found well i would really appreciate it if you could help me out here.well thanks in advance!God bless! |
Did you run xorgsetup to configure X? How about xwconfig to select a graphical environment? From that error, it looks like KDE is having trouble, did you do a full install of Slackware? Do any of the other window environments (fluxbox for example) start up if you select one instead of KDE?

Here are three places to get packages from:
http://slackbuilds.org/ http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/ http://rlworkman.net/pkgs/ And there's plenty of information about Slackware, and Linux in general, here: http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/...21.27.27.27.22 |
