Problem installing Redhat 9
 
iam new to Redhat9. i want to install redhat9 on Seagate hard disk (Barracuda 7200_7 SATA, Model: ST380013AS) it does not detect hard disk and requires drivers. please help me out to find drivers or any other solution? Waiting for a prompt reply.

Red Hat 9 has been out of support for a very long time. Depending on your needs, try Fedora Core 5 (for the latest software), or Red Hat Enterprise (for a tested and supported OS).

The reason for the HDD not being detected is the lack of support for your SATA controller by the linux kernel. One more reason is because of the race condition in the ata-piix driver which will fail the HDD detected if your CDROM is detected first. Use a ditro with the latest kernel (2.6.12+)
