problem installing real player in hardy


using the guide given in
http://swik.net/Ubuntu/Only+Ubuntu/H...n+Ubuntu/b5t6f


i was able to insatll real player.but the command marked 9.that is
#cp /opt/real/RealPlayer/mozilla/nphelix.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/nphelix.so && cp /opt/real/RealPlayer/mozilla/nphelix.xpt ~/.mozilla/plugins/nphelix.xpt
gave an error saying




/plugins/nphelix.xpt cp: cannot stat `/opt/real/RealPlayer/mozilla/nphelix.so': No such file or directory




what should i do ?the installed real player does not play anyfiles as of now...

How exactly did you "install" realplayer? Did you get it from the real.com site? Or did you use a normal ubuntu package to install it? Have you verified that you have a folder /opt/real/RealPlayer... ? This would be a normal location if you downloaded directly from real.com. From what you say, it seems you haven't installed realplayer. What makes you think you have?

no /opt does not have real folder!!!i installed it from the step 1 site and it got saved in the home folder as realplayergold.bin.then i followed the procedure given.what made me think i installed it is,it was shown in the other applications when i tried to open a .rm file.but it did not work!!!also when i installed it,it showed installation complete.

what does

whereis realplay
or
Code:
ls -l /usr/bin/realplay
give you?

It doesn't seem that you've installed realplayer. What makes you think you have?

it was listed in the available programs along with other media players....

when i tried to open a .avi file with a right click,open with other applications,it was listed there.
