I was trying to find what repository was used to install php-mbstring but yum is unable to tell. It just tells the package info and that it is installed. But if you can give the list of repositories you have I can compare it mine and tell where it was installed from.

What has anything to do with that? OP has got issues with dependencies that are not available with the repositories that are already installed. Anything that is possible with control panel can also be done with commands. May be better.
