I am trying to install mandrake 10.1 onto a PIII system and have run into a stumbling block.
My system boots the Mandrake CD 1 and i get the main installation screen. but when i press enter to install, i quickly get a message window that says "I Can't access a Mandrakelinux Installation disc in your CDROM drive (Samsung SCR-3232). Then i ge the option to retry.
In the log the system seems to be tryiung to mount my CD as ytpe ISO9660, and then gets mount failed: Invalid argument
Is there something i am missing here, or can somebody give me a hint to get me straightened out?

Is that all it says? Always good to give the impression that you are quoting the error message verbatim. The file system type is not the only argument passed to mount.
FYI the same thing is happening on my office computer.
The CDs worked great on my laptop, but in my office (a dual processor Xeon 2.2 with a cd-rom drive TOSHIBA CD_ROM XM-6302B - at least this is what he logs say) I get:
looking for scsi media
looking for Compaq smart array media
looking for DAC960
looking for scsi media
looking for Compaq smart array media
looking for DAC960
looking for ide media
IDE/1 : hda is WDC WD000JB-OOCRA1
IDE/0 : hdc is TOSHIBA CDROM-XM-6302B
looking for scsi media
looking for Compaq smart array media
looking for DAC960
mounting /dev/hdc on /sysroot/tmp/image as type ISO9660
mount failed: invalid argument
So what did you do precisely? Did you replace your old cd drive, did you use an external one?
My CD-drive is not old though (2 years), that's a bit annoying, isn't it?
yep it was annoying, but i replaced the old cd drive with a new samsung 52x cd drive and the install recognised it and the rest of the installation went like clockwork.
