problem installing evolution on FC1

Hello everybody!

I upgraded my work box from Redhat9 to Fedora Core 1, and something caused evolution to disappear. Clicking the icon in gnome (which always worked in redhat9) or typing "evolution &" in the terminal fail. I am not worried about this, because it is just the executable that is failing/missing, all my email is happily sitting in /home/jim/evolution/ which still exists.

So to correct the problem, I went to ximian.com (now redirected to novell.com), and installed the red carpet app, and tried using it to download/install evolution 1.4.5-7. This is the error I get from their installer:

Transaction failed:
Unable to complete
RPM transaction:
file
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_GtkHTML_Editor.server
from install of gtkhtml3-3.0.9-5
conflicts with file from package
gtkhtml3.0-3.0.10-0.ximian.6.1
file
/usr/lib/gtkhtml/libgnome-gtkhtml-editor-3.0.so
from install of gtkhtml3-3.0.9-5
conflicts with file from package
gtkhtml3.0-3.0.10-0.ximian.6.1

Here are the results of a rpm -qa|grep gtkhtml

[jim@workbox jim]$ rpm -qa |grep gtkhtml
gnome-python2-gtkhtml2-2.0.0-2
gtkhtml-1.1.9-5
gtkhtml2-2.4.0-1
libgtkhtml3.0_4-3.0.10-0.ximian.6.1
gtkhtml3.0-3.0.10-0.ximian.6.1

That seems to suggest both the ximian install and the gnome version are installed.

Any ideas on how to clean this up and get evolution running?

Thanks and Peace,
JimBass

Fixed it!

Apt-get came to the rescue, which I should have thought of before.

All that it took was:

apt-get install libgtkhtml-3.0.so.2

followed by

apt-get install evolution

problems solved! All my email was right there, accounts, and sigs were all in place.

Peace,
JimBass
