LinuxQuestions.org - Problem Installing Drive controller

Hello All,

I currently have two hard drives in my desktop and I'm trying to install CentOS 4 on one of them. My idea is to setup a dual boot machine with Windows XP on one hard drive and CentOS 4 on the another. I currently have 2 onboard IDE controllers and a PCI card that contains both an IDE controller and a SATA controller.

Currently this is how the drives are setup on the controllers:
onboard primary ide master: 60GB IBM Deskstar (WinXP installed)
onbaord primary ide slave: empty
onboard secondary ide master: Sony DVD Burner
onboad secondary ide slave: empty

PCI Card IDE Master: 200GB Maxtor (destined for CentOS)
PCI Card IDE Slave: empty
PCI Card Sata Master: empty
PCI Card Sata Slave: empty

The PCI card I have installed is a Sata II 150 TX2 from Promise Technologies. Unfortunately I have not found a linux device driver for the CentOS operating system, although they do provide device driver disks for Red Hat and other distros.

Originally, I tried installing CentOS to see if it would just detect the appropriate driver for the controller, but it did not work (I suspected this since I had to load a 3rd party driver for Windows to install on it previously). CentOS did detect and install a promise driver, however when I got to the disk druid screen, all that is showing is the 60GB Windows drive.

I also tried to follow instructions on Promise's site on how to install the controller driver using a floppy (for Red Hat Linux), since I have heard that CentOS is pretty much the same as RHL, however the installation must be different because I could not reference the floppy during the CentOS install like the instructions said you could do with Red hat.

I have also tried googling for instructions and I've looked at CentOS's website for instruction with no answers.

Any help would be appreciated.
