Problem in vnc viewer

hai
2 questions:

1.i tried to run vnc server in 1 machine.and the vnc viewer in another machine.no problem in vnc server.but when i tried to run vnc viewer its giving authentication failed.

server machine:
$vncserver
New 'localhost.localdomain:2 (root)' desktop is localhost.localdomain:2

Starting applications specified in /root/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /root/.vnc/localhost.localdomain:2.log

$vncviewer ipaddressofserver:2
its asking for password.here i gave server's password.
but its giving authentication failed.y?
i don't know the reason.

2.Another question?
we are working in a thin client environment.we have connected 2 thin clients to a Linux thick server.i think thin clients are connected through xvnc.my doubt is whether it possible to run the vncserver and vncviewer in the same machine(i.e in Linux thick server).i tried to do that.but its not working?y its not working.can anyone clarify my doubts.

thanks in advance

1.The first time you run vncserver it asks to supply a password. This password is then used by the viewer. If you don't know it, you can stop the server, delete ~/.vnc/passwd and restart the server, so it will ask you again to supply a password.

2. I'm sorry I cannot help you on this.
