8 has reached end-of-life as far as I know. Please install F11 or F10, or choose another distribution if you can't keep up with Fedora's strict upgrade schedule. That probably was not the answer you expected but please remember that running unmaintained and unsupported distribution releases can not only be bad for you but equally for others and in more than one way. You miss out on security and bug fixes, better performance and new features. More importantly Fedora is a community-driven project. Running an old release means you will not get the support you require and you will not be able to give valuable feedback that may help Fedora improve.

Uhm, no, upgrading from F8 directly to F11 wouldn't work. As far as I know the only way to upgrade to F11 would be from an already upgraded F10 because for one thing the RPM format changed slightly. So either it'll be upgrading sequentially (maybe error-prone but at least time-consuming) or backup your /home and /etc and install a fresh F11.
