hmm have never seen such a rc.local :O all this lilo stuff inside and so on ....
sure you need it all ? ok long time not using red hat ...

Well my I am using A distro named ELX http://www.elxlinux.com which based on redhat 7.2 or 8. So all the weired stuff are to display good graphics during boot.. Nothing else..
