Problem in mounting the ntfs drives

Hi,

I'm one year old user of Linux OS. Right now I'm using fedora 9. Till some days back I didn't have any problem in my system. I've one user "shashi" in my system using that I normally log in to my machine. One day I changed the ownership of /usr to "shashi". From very next day my problem started. Now, when I log in with the "shashi" user I'm not able to see windows partitions in my system. In order to view it I've to log in as root user graphically then, one msg comes saying "update applet is running" and all of windows partitions automatically mount. When again I log as "shashi" now I'm able to view these windows partitions. Now I've again changed the ownership of /usr to root again.

Please help me to overcome this problem.

Thanks in advance

Shashi Ranjan

There is no problem. /usr should be owned by root, it contains system files, which NEED to be owned by root. Changing ownership of system directories is a bad thing, and the cause of your problems.
