problem in kpdf in ubuntu 8.04

my ubuntu 8.04 is GNOME based.
I am using kpdf 0.5.10 (using kde 3.5.10)

In find dialog box > options
only case sensitive is available to mark/unselect while
find backwards ,
from cursor ,
whole words only ,
selected text are grayed out & unselected.

Also in right hand side thumbnails there is search bar with filter options (case sensitive & {match phrase|match all words|match any word} ) available for selection but after I key in query & hit enter nothing happens.

I would try not to recommend proprietary software for Linux users unless there's no choice.

Anyway, Evince is the document viewer normally used with GNOME, and starting with KDE 4, Okular has replaced KPDF.
