problem in installing red hat
red hat installation cd does'nt detects hard disk in my laptop. EARLIER I WAS USING UBUNTU 9.10 ND IT WORKED WELL

Hi, Can you please specify the exact OS you are trying to install. Red Hat Linux is no longer in development and has had no security updates in a long time, replaced instead by RHEL(license fees) and Fedora(free to use).

i was installing rhel4 and config of machine are:
ram 2gb hdd 250gb(ATA) CORE2DUO |
if you are staying with RHEL
then use RHEL 5.4 rhel 4 might be to old for a dual core cpu --- or --- install the free version CentOS 5.4 |
I would stick with what John VV has said, RHEL 4 is quite a few years old, I suspect it probably doesn't have all the drivers that your hardware requires. CentOS 5.4 might be your best bet.
