problem in connecting to internet in ubuntu 9.04


can anyone help me out??i have newly installed ubuntu 9.04 in my system as second os..my 1st os is windows xp..
now the problem is i m not getting connected to internet..i can connect to net thru xp..but its not happening in ubuntu 9.04...
could anyone help me ?????plz....

how is xp connecting to the net what is your set up mobile broadband ?
telephone line through router ?
wifi ?

please give us the breakdown so we can help you .

Hi,

Open the terminal from applications and type

sudo pppoeconf

Your modem should be switched on during this procedure.
It will ask a list of questions. The defaults worked fine with me. So just keep pressing enter.

It will then ask your user ID and Password. Type them in and finish configuring. Once done you will be connected to the internet.

It worked fine for me. Hope the same for you as well.
