problem in booting backtrack4?

Hey,

i installed backtrack4 on my desktop and the problem which i face after installation is that, when i switch to gui that is using STARTX command(after installation and signed in as ROOT) a black screen appears, does anyone has come across or a clue on this kind of problem? Does this have to do with the graphics of my system?

Kind Regards,
Manish

No, Backtrack does no need large and fancy graphics. They still use KDE3, if i remember right. I had no issues using an Intel GMA4500 graphics.

Try booting with 'acpi=off' option. Sometimes nvidia graphics cards are a bit finicky when it comes to acpi.

Backtrack is a limited use distro. Might be easier and more productive to use another distro and get clues to your hardware quirks before you try backtrack.
