Problem Configuring GRUB

Managed to got GRUB installed onto a USB stick.

Tested and able to boot into the GRUB menu.

Wanted to boot into the harddisk, so change
root(hd0,0) into root(hd1,0) but this did not work.

Any idea how the menu.lst should be updated to enable booting into harddisk?

Bring up GRUB and select your boot line.
Press E and select the hd(x,x) line.
Press E again and remove the x,x) part, then press the tab key.
GRUB should now show you a survey of you drives and their names, which should allow you to figure out the proper name of the device in question.

I'm booting GrUB from a usb stick and the method results in :

Quote:
Possible disk are : hd0, hd1, hd2, hd3, hd4, hd5, hd6, hd7
Since I've only a harddisk, this seems a bit strange.

Anyway, they doesn't work. :-(
