Unhappy problem after vlc installed in fedora 10 "it will not work on root"

i have instaled vlc in fedora 10 through "yum install vlc" i got msg "complete" still is not working. But under Applications-> Sound and video->vlc media player(icon) show here. When i write vlc on the command line then i got this msg "VLC is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry.
If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports
you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root first and
cannot be run by non-trusted users first).
"I am getting problem to open '*.avi'.

Plz help me any body to resolve it. Thanx in advance.

1. Never login as root.
2. Always login as a regular (non-root) user.
3. Use sudo to do any root things you need done.
4. Never login as root.
