PROB: Mandrake or WinXP or Fedora mess up

I installed Mandrake 10.1. I noticed that my LBA HDD changed to CHS mode. I didn't like this. So I installed Fedora Core 2 (deleted the Mandrake partition and created another partiition for Fedora). My Windows XP boot loader got messed up. So I re-installed Windows XP. My HDD changed back to LBA mode which was good. Then I try to installed Fedora Core 2 again, but it says:

... misaligned partition table... cannot setup partition tables... can only initialise ... if initialise will loose my partition tables...

So I gave up and tried booting back into Windows XP. WTF. Windows XP just gives me a blank screen with a horizontal gray bar near the bottom and hangs....

I want to install Fedora Core 2 again, but how do I fix this misalign partition table problem? And what happened to my Windows XP?

There is a well known problem with FC2 that hinders the smooth process of dual booting FC and WinXP.

have u formatted and partitioned using windows? my advice would be to install linux and use the partitioning option that comes with it. For instance I dual boot with RH9 and winxp during the installation of RH9 it gives me an option to have auto partitioning or to use disk druid and manually choose the size of my partitions. Also to add the option of adding xp as a name for the 3rd partition. Then when it was all up and running I just set up win xp on the unused partition pretty straightforward. Stick with it :-)
