I thought this would be an easy answer. Looks like the prism54.org site is in a major change. It also looks like they are producing drivers for the softmac cards as well. I will have to get some spare time and review the site. At this time I have no way of putting the firmware driver up.

edit:
Went to the Internet Way Back Machine site to pull old websites. I was able to download the driver from here. http://web.archive.org/web/200402101...//prism54.org/ . Hopefully the link will work for you if not goto http://www.archive.org/ and type in prism54.org in the WayBackMachine box. I went to the Feb 10, 2004 link.
You would be amazed what one can find this way.
edit:

My post on the subject is here. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=295200

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your reply I knew it wasn't an easy question. Two days on google yeilded no results using my methods and thanks for the resource too.

ps under fedora core 4 network configuration my card is listed under hardware but not devices and I cannot seem to get it to come up as a wireless network

great now I'm getting the module islpci_cb not found I've already checked many times to make sure my card is one of the ones supported what do I do now

What is the output of the followning commands. Requires root access to run. Never tried a v1 of the card so I am new to it, but will help as much as I can. Seen your post in wireless networking. In v2 the module is prism54.

/sbin/cardctl status
/sbin/cardctl ident
/sbin/cardctl info

What have you done so far ( Be as specific as possible )?
Have you rebuilt the kernel with prism54 support?
Copied the firmware and renamed as described in install?
Have you tried ndiswrapper?

reply to first command
Socket 0:
3.3V CardBus card
function 0: [ready]
second command
Socket 0:
product info: "Intersil", "ISL3890","-","-"
manfid: 0x00b, 0x3890,
function: 254 ((null))
third:
PRODID_1="Intersil"
PRODID_2="ISL3890"
PRODID_"-"
PRODID_"-"
MANFID=000b,3890
FUNCID=254
so far from what i have read I didnt need to recompile the kernel because the prism54 drivers were already supported for this card
and I have put copied the firmware as described in install for FC4
I have not yet tried ndiswrapper (I'm too much of a newbie to figure out how to install it).

From what I can find on the net about the islpci_cb is very confusing. Is there a prism54 in file:///lib/modules/<current_running_kernel>/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/prism54/prism54.ko
My only last thought is recompile the kernel and turn on prism54. You can check out this post on kernel compile. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...36#post1401136
