Prints colour from server; B&W when printing thru' server

Thanks to you guys I now have a very basic working server.
When I print to my HP OfficeJet 710 my server (Fedora FC2) everything is ok colour and all.
When I print from any of the PCs connected to my server (all windows) the print is only in B&W.
If I connect the PC to the printer direct all is ok.

One other small matter. When I setup the network printer on my last PC it seemed to want to download drivers from my server which it couldn't. What is happening here? I ended up using a CD I have....

Thanks

Hi,

I supose you have installed the correct drivers on the workstations.

Are the workstations running Windows? I think so, couse than you use drivers and their configuration on the workstations. you have to set up the options in this drivers - in your case switch from B/W to color.

I have seen some windows machines that forget the settings if you close the property box too fast .... As far as I remember the trik was to wait for about a minute after changing settings, than logout and login and check if it's still ok.
For me it worked

hope it helps

regards

As I said above, If I connect the printer directly to the printer in works ok. I assume that I have the correct drivers as I installed them from the CD. I admit that I was puzzled when I tried to setup one of the WS to network printing and it wanted to download the driver from my server but could not.....

well exactly, there is a way to set up your samba/cups servers to provide the drivers for the windows clients, but it's tricky and it dowsn't work with all kind of printers, so you than install the driver on windows, and surprize, connecting the printer directly does NOT takes your settings over from the other setting for the network printer ...

Anyway I suppose you've already checked both.

Have a look at the server settings trough http://localhost:631/ and tell us what you see.

I have checked all I can the problem is I am not sure what I am looking for. If the client can print ok, what can the server do to stop it printing colour? I have seen RAW mentioned what does that mean? Is it relevant to my problem?
