Printing with smb4k

I have simply mepis 2004 on one computer and XP :-( on another. My D-Link router is hooked up to both the xp and mepis computers. The Printer is hooked up to the XP computer. I can see my XP computer on smb4k and I can share files too. I have the printer set to share and I can also see that on smb4k(when I click on the printer in smb4k it says"printer shares cannot be mounted yet:I dont know if that is relavent or not) anyway I add the printer using the KDE add printer and it seems to work fine but when I try to print it doesnt work, and when I log off and log back on there is a small red X beside the printer in the printer menu. Any Suggestions? Id be happy to give my Phone # if someone wanted it would help to figure it out over the phone. THANK YOU!

Have you disabled 'simple file sharing' in XP? It would be a wise step then you can set permissions to the sharing and can set in KDE the account info... (my computer -> tools -> folder settings -> view -> 'use simple file sharing (recommended)', by the way, if you are already here, disable the 'search automatically for shared folders and printers').

Thank you.....but............there is nowhere that i can see thats says anything about simple sile sharing i went
mycomputer-->tools-->folder options(not setting)-->view and i saw nothing about that I disabled search automatically for networks or something like that but there was no search automatically for shared folders:(

-------------------------------->>>>>I just looked on the windows website and it says you cannot disable simple filesharing with home edition:( any other suggestions?

ugh, haven't asked about if it is a Home edition or the Professional, sorry...
The differences between the two version is mainly in the server functionality.

Are you trying to connect to the printer as a guest? Can you add more users to an XP home edition (I'm only using prof). You should try to connect as another user.
