printing with Samba from winxp using manual feed

I am trying to get a winxp box to print through a samba server and enable changes in settings for a particular print job. I have a network with a number of win2k machines and 1 winxp machine. The printer is an HP laserjet 2100 connected directly to the linux server that is running Samba 2.2.5. The printing system on the linux box is cups.

All the machines can print quite happily to the printer when the printjob is using the default tray. However when the setting is switched to manual feed, only the winxp machine has a problem with manual feed. When it tries to send a print job that is manual feed, it prints from the default tray (as if it wasn’t manual feed) and prints an extra page with the following error message:

PCL XL error
Warning: IllegalMediaSource

Has anyone come across this sort of thing before? Any ideas how I might get this sorted?

Hmm, very strange. I use the Samba server as a print server on my home LAN and use the Samsung ML-4500 and have never had a problem printing envelopes from a different tray. I just use the windows XP drivers to change printer options. Samba just acts as a "middle man" and should transfer these requests

It could be a windows XP driver error.

True, but I have never had this problem before with the older Samba 2.0.X or back when I had winnt4 server. Very strange!
