Printing to Windows machine from PCLinuxOS

Greetings,

I have not been able to print from my PCLinux box through my Windows machine (printer connected and working on that machine).

There are shared files on the Windows machine that can be seen with PCLinuxOS and accessed. PCLinuxOS can supposedly see the printer, but will not print a test page. Setup seems straightforward, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Scott

PCLinuxOS not detecting Windows printer

Greetings,

Shared printer on Windows XP isn't being detected over network. Unix printing set up in Add/Remove programs. Manual setup not working.

The link below didn't resolve it. Any other suggestions? Shared Windows files are visible to PCLinuxOS.

About ready to switch back to Ubuntu, but hate the color scheme.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

I'm assuming you have Samba installed and running on the Linux machine.

Try running smbclient on the Linux machine. The link gives good examples for running the command.

It will tell you whether the Linux machine is seeing the printer and, if so, what it looks like over the network.

The next step is to tell the Vista computer that it needs to share it's printer with others on the network, for this step, you will need to open the start menu and select "Control Panel".

Thanks Gents,

I'll check on Samba. I know that the printer is shared. The linux machine is dual boot with XP and I can print via XP through the other machine. I'll let you know what I find out.
