I got this problem and need all the help i can get.

I got this Lexmark E450dn printer, i need to print to it from an HP-UX application.
Problem is i have HP-UX 10.2 installed on my server and there are no 10.2 drivers from Lexmark for this printer.....only HP-UX 11.0 and later is supported.

so i thought of setting up a linux print server, add the Lexmark to it, then share it across the network so i can add it as a remote printer in HP-UX 10.2 and be able to print to it.

I've already got Debian etch installed on a box, got the printer installed and printing fine, got CUPS server running and printing test pages to the lexmark fine.

My problem now is :

How do i get the HP-UX server to print to the lexmark now ??
how to configure CUPS on it ?

10.20 is ancient in HP-UX terms.

Default tool for printing in HP-UX is JetAdmin (later rebranded as HPNP). This didn't use "drivers" so much as "models". If you got a "model" for HP-UX 11.x chances are you can make it available in your HP-UX 10.20 system.

I haven't really done any HP-UX to Linux printing mainly because I'm using JetAdmin/HPNP on all but one environment which IS running 10.20 but there we use CEPS rather than CUPS.

I'm not an expert, but are you trying to configure your printer on HP-UX with the standard SystemV print subsystem? If so, you should be able to either create a remote queue with SAM or I believe that you should be able to use an HP-UX 10.2 package for an older Lexmark mono product, using MVPrint(aka lexprt). Since HP-UX 10.2 does not include CUPS, I would need to know more about your configuration and expectations in order to give you an adequate response there.
