Unhappy printer not listed in kprinter SuSe 8.1

When I try to print an Acrobat document, Kprinter comes up with options to print to file, send to fax etc but my printer is not listed in the drop down box. How do I add my Epson printer photo 870 to the drop down list in Kprinter?

Well if it has been already setuped and configured it should show up. Take a look at KControl->Stuff->Printers and see if it shows up.

The printer is setup in Kcontrol and does print a test page. Problem is that no printers are listed in the drop down box for printer selection. Only print to file, send to fax, etc.

Moved: This thread is more suitable in Linux-Newbie and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

Which spooler system do you use (KPrinter has it at the bottom of the window)?

Red face Printer not listed in Kprinter SuSe 8.1

The system listed is "LPR/LPRng "
Been using this version of Linux for a year. The printer did work after I first installed it. I could print in Galeon my web browser without any problems. Something went wrong. Kprinter comes up and has a selection of print to file, fax, but not to my printer.

Maybe instead of LPR you should be using CUPS. Just an idea
