print layout and margin control in RHEL4

Hi all,

Now I have to use unix2dos command everytime to control the layout of a file (so that lines doesnt go out of the page) that i print from RHEL4 host. Is there any way to setup/configure in linux to control this layout feature.
Thanks in advance!

Hi John,

is there any workaround to fix this problem (any way to apply unix2dos automatically to a file to be printed) ?
Thanks in advance!

sorry but i use rhel 5 and 6 and have never ran into a situation that needed dos2unix or unis2dos to fix the end of line characters

you do have a support contract with red hat for the older rhel4
ask them .
https://www.redhat.com/support/
do a search
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/search
but your working RHN username and password for your active account will be required.

As there is no support contract with Redhat, i am unable to access/search on redhat site.
Is there any way to apply unix2dos to the file to be printed automatically ?
thanks in advance!

you could write a shell script to run unix2dos before sending it to the printer

but without a license for rhel4 when was the last time ( if ever ) it was updated the current 4 is 4.9
RHEL 4.0 was released in Feb. 2005 and if NO updates were installed there are 6 years of unpatched security holes in it
