PPP-Setup and my modem
Hello,
I recently installed Bigslack because I can't repartition my hard drive on this computer. I tried to get the Internet running by using PPP-Setup. Once I complete the setup and type 'ppp-go' it just says "Connect Script Failed" straight away and doesn't contact my modem. I've used 'setserial /dev/ttyS1 irq 5 port 0x2f8' but it still won't contact my modem. I got the latest versions of PPP-Setup and PPPd, but when I boot up Linux again (after downloading the files from Windows) it says "Can't Synchronise File PPPd-2.4.0.tar.gz" and something about a mangled name, then it renames it to something crazy like PPP#set$.$00 (sorry I can't say exactly I deleted it :/ It says the same thing for PPP-Setup and when I try to use tar or gunzip on them it won't work. Do I need these files to make the Internet work? Or is it a serial related problem... Please help. |
