power management
 

I didn't know if to post this in this thread or in the laptop thread, so if I put it in the wrong place I apologize.

I know Linux has some kind of power management that suspends the system or something like that. But I was wondering if there was a program or feature or something along those lines that turns off the hard drive or the monitor after X amount of minutes.

Also, my system is a P4-M which uses SpeedStep. I was wondering if Linux uses it at all, and how to adjust any settings.

for the hard drive, try using hdparm

As for the monitor, if you are using X, you can use the xscreensaver
