Postfix help for newbie

I have just got postfix installed and setup according to all the documents I can find but how do I send an email?????

I just want to send an email to make sure it is working. I am trying to set it up to filter emails and send them on to my exchange server, but wanted to check to see if it works before I continue.

I am using postfix 2.x on Suse Linux 9.0

any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks.
