Possible to uninstall stuff easily?

I have done an LFS system and am trying to follow a howto i found on setting up a mail server with a couple differnt packages. How ever it did not work, everything was compiled by source. Is there an easy way to remove these packages all together so I can find another howto and start over from scratch with out having a bunch of extra crap laying around on my system? Thanks..

edit:

If it helps the programs im trying to uninstall are postfix and courier-imap
