Possibility to configure KDE desktop disappeared

I was trying to make some screensavers appear in the desktop configuration coz I couldn't find any. I had no idea what to do, so I right-clicked on menu icons if that would be the right magic. Then, after a few desparate, frustrated right-clicks the config window disappeared and I got this crash note that said it would be neat if I reproduce the error. Cool, I'm needed in development! But, at this point, I couldn't find "Configure My Desktop" option in the configuration menu of the start menu. Sure, "Configure Desktop" can be selected by right-clicking on desktop and choosing it from the up-popping menu, but that doesn't do zip. Confusing enough?

All the users in Mandrake lack this config option.

Any ideas how to configure desktop one more time?

Thanks,
Yuzaa

p.s.
That was Mandrake 9.2 and KDE.

"Any ideas how to configure desktop one more time?"

Open a terminal. At the prompt type in:
kcontrol

This will give you the KDE configuration GUI. Click on desktop.

Can't find "desktop"

Cheers, jailbait, but I couldn't find Desktop anywhere. I opened the KDE Control Center and its Index tab includes the following tree.

Information
+PCMCIA
+Storage Devices
PowerControl
+Laptop Battery

Should the Desktop be in the tree or somewhere else? Last time I used Control Center the tree was somewhat more extensive..

Also, after this little incident, the Home icon on desktop seized to work. When I run the corresponding command (kfmclient openProfile filemanagement) on terminal I get the following error

ERROR: Couldn't start konqueror from konqueror.desktop: Could not find service 'konqueror.desktop'.

That's not a problem, since konqueror can be started, but does it has to do something with the missing control center tree items?

I think that there is something wrong with your KDE, unless Mandrake sets it up completely differently that SuSE and I don't think that Mandrake can make it that different. Try logging in as root and take a look at root's control center.
