A few here might have been following my posts/efforts to get Linux installed in my PC. Finally the night before last, I was able to get Knoppix running on my PC with the following commands at boot:
knoppix 2 vga=normal lang=us
The install took some time but it loaded well and I was able to checkout several programs. I tried this more than once to ensure that it worked. It booted again and again with this command. No problems. After struggling to learn/install Linux for over 3 weeks, I am pleased with this progress.
I was assisted by The Answer Group at www.linuxgazette.com
with this and also my initial IRQ conflict issue. They have some rules and also require questions to be asked in a certain format. However, once that is done, they offer excellent help. I encourage other newbies who are having problems to checkout that site.
Here is my question though !! If Knoppix can install well and run KDE, why can't Mandrake and the other Distros that I have ?
Looking forward to assistance in this regard.
