plzzz help me and my problem!!

I have a gun pointed at my computer ready to blow it up. I am going insane. I think I might post this question around some other forums too as it doesn't seem to be a Linux only problem. Here it is, my mouse stays down the bottom of the screen and only moves left and right, it does a few crazy erratic jumps around the screen then goes back down to the bottom of the screen, ok, now heres what I've tried. There is no crap in my mouse to stop it from working properly, I've tried changing the type of mouse device and tried the X11 mouse using keyboard thing but it still won't let me move the mouse cursor. The weird thing is that the exact thing is happening in my Windows ME partition on my hard drive. This basically rules out any form of driver problem or virus as both systems are affected. My mouse is a Logitech PS/2 rollerball mouse. I have looked through all my PC troubleshooting books and the only thing I can think of thats causing this error is a IRQ resource conflict. If someone knows how to fix this problem please explain it to me, or if noone knows can someone tell me if theres a way to modify IRQ port settings and stuff like that in Linux? I'm running SuSE 9.1 Professional. In Windows you can see all the IRQ settings (and sometimes modifiy them) through the Control Panel/ System tab thing. I need something like this for Linux, so if theres a way of doing it, or a program I can download, or if you know how to easily fix the problem, please tell me. Thanks for reading this big ass post. :)

as you said, your windows does the same thing. well, windows has it's own drivers for mice so i really doubt it has anything to do with your linux.

take it easy and try another mouse first. it sounds more like hardware problem then software. if you don't have a secound mouse ask your kind nabours to borrow theirs for 5 mins ;)

good luck

I don't have anything in particular to add to your thread,
but I feel that I have to encourage you to use a subject
that has at least some relation with the actual problem.

"plzzz help me and my problem!!" only gets my attention
because I'm a mod :) and think that something like
"erratic mouse movement in both SuSE 9.1 and
windows ME" would have been a far better choice.

Cheers,
Tink

There are times when this can be software, but in this case it sounds hardware... Also I assume it's a mouse with a ball???

Get a new mouse. Get optical. They are cool. (and cheap now too)
