As v noe,Linux is a popular open source OS with so many variants. may i noe how Red-hat LINUX operating system does the duties of
(a) Process management
(b) Memory management and
(c) Control operations

thank you very much for those who are able to help me bout this problem..or mayb where can i find all this information???thanx

Red Hat uses the same basic Linux kernel as other distributions, to which they have applied some patches. The kernel handles low level tasks such as process, memory, and hardware management. The administrator controls the system by using normal programs that call upon kernel features. The core of the kernel (not including device drivers) is hundreds of thousand of lines long -- too much to be describe in a forum post. I suggest you get Robert Love's Linux Kernel Development and/or Understanding the Linux Kernel by Bovet and Cesati if you want to get an inside view of how it all works (you can just get the source from www.kernel.org and read it, but a guide is always handy).

If you are doing a course on operating systems concepts, then I suggest that you get a general book on this topic. Many recent ones will have specific information on Linux as well.

In all honesty, that last question made absolutely no sense.

rpd_gnv - you really need to learn how to use Google.

Linux is the kernel. Redhat is a Linux distribution, that includes Linux and some other programs such as desktops, productivity and multimedia applications, etc. Other distributions include Ubuntu, Slackware, Debian, Suse...

From your first post, process management and memory management are done by the kernel - so they are the same on all Linux distributions. I have absolutely no idea what "Control Operations" are - please explain.

Also, I know that English may be a second language, but you can at least make an effort.

i noe how 2 use google search actualy..but i cant search wat i want...sorry to say tat i noe nth about linux but this is actualy my assignment that given by my lecturer...thanx for ur help about letting me noe that red hat is a linux distribution...thank you very much...:) :) :)

And just for future reference, you might want to try to stick to Standard Written English (Ie, using proper spelling and grammar) so that people will understand you easier..
