If you are in the second year, then you should know that we cannot tell you which linux distro is "best" for you.

Which food is "best" for you?
Which car is "best" for you?
Which shoes are "best" for you?
Try them all, you could start here: http://distrowatch.com/

You could also try the [Search] button on this page for "Best distro", because this Q has been asked many many times before.

But if you are that new, start with an "easier" distro - and I am very happy with kubuntu, but others will naturally recommend their favourite distros.

Welcome to LQ.

What do you want to use it for? The are a large number of distributions, some of which are ideal for some tasks but not others. Each generally has it's own emphasis.

So the question is: what do you wish to use Linux for?
