Please Help(nvidia)

I don't see myself as a newbie. But This is the last chance. I installed Nvidia drivers..to slackware 9,1..to redhat..9.0 and mandrake 9.1..but can't solved the problem. I installed Nvidia drivers, edited the XF86Config as the README file said.
But when i logon X, it comes up with weird characters(some of 'em flashing).
I read XF86.log but coulnd't see any errors..

My configuration is

GF FX 5600
AMD 2.5
Epox 8RDA+
1 gb RAM
19" Syncmaster

Please don't tell me to change "nv" to "nvidia" or don't say me re-read Nvidia README.

Shot in the dark - some other guy had a problem with the same hardware setup and a BIOS update fixed it.See http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=99949
If it worked with other distros you can forget about this.
