Please help!!! My toshiba portege m500 turns on with a black screen!!! Fan not on!!!

Please Help! My Toshiba Portege M500 won't turn on(normally)! When I press the on button the screen stays black and the Hard Drive light goes on for a couple of seconds then turns off! The fan only runs after a while when pressing Fn+F5+F7! Probably the main.reason is I damaged the Hard Drive or RAM when taking it out to see how memory and RAM I have! The Toshiba is 5 years old so I didn't remember how much I had so I took it out. Can anyone help or have the same problem? Thank you in advance!

Here are some ideas for testing:

Since you opened it up once, open it again and make sure all the ram chips are properly seated in their slots. RAM that is not properly seated can cause strange behavior.

Try booting to a Live CD. If the machine boots, see whether you can mount and read the hard drive.

I found two videos on YouTube about this laptop, or at least about what appears to be the same model. They may have some hints for you:

Thanks for helping me I've tried that and I got it without a live cd( it was from school). I've tried several times to clean the ram chip but that hasn't worked. I'll try replacing the hard drive when I can but thanks for replying.

Did you try to remove the battery?

Also, if you have multiple sticks of ram, try with only 1.

It should still turn on even with a bad hdd. The bad hdd would just not let you boot into anything.
