PLEASE HELP me with installing my network card driver!
I recently installed linux on my computer and it automatically recognized every piece of hard ware except my Network card. It is a , Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adapter Copper RJ-45. I think I found the Driver but I'm not sure what the instructions are trying to say. It's not simple. I need to modify the source code or something? I dont know how or where to do that. Or where to enter this code its telling me to enter. Some one just tell me the step you would take to install a driver.
You most likely need to compile then install. Extract the source files into a folder, cd to the folder (as a normal user not as root) then type: ./configure if that completes without any errors type: make when that process has completed switch to root (type su press enter then input root password) now type: make install. Now type exit to revert back to a normal user. Driver is now installed, you may now delete the source folder if you wish.
I´ve downloaded, unpacked & got the install process going here´s what I did. Unpack everything until you get to a folder called DriverInstall cd into that folder (Make sure you read the docs before continuing) then switch to root (su press enter then input your root password) now type ./install.sh this will start the install process. When you have finished installing the driver type exit to return to normal user mode.
Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
