Unhappy Please help locked out of my system!


I accidentally hit run on the following:

sudo chmod -R go+r-x u+rwx /

and now I can not preform any command

Help would be much appreciated!

D

just a guess: Prepare linux live usb with unetbootin and boot into linux and run command that will make changes that will make system bootable again.

I don't think there's any recommendation that would work other than "back up the data and reinstall".

To get at the data, you'd boot from a live CD/DVD/USB, mount the hard drive, and then copy the data to somewhere else, changing the permissions (of course) if you need to.

OK, Thank you for the advice, if that is what I have to do it fine. This may be a silly question but I have another Linux machine, can I plug the card drive into that and just copy them onto the second machine I imagine I can and will not need to mount anything that way?

Ha ha that is very true, at least its not my Primary device otherwise I couldn't seek some advise from your good selves.
