PLEASE HELP !!!! How to re-install Linux ????
I had trouble getting Linux to recognize Windows XP which resided on 2 Silicon Image driven Seagate SATA drives.
Grub was the bootloader. I then installed System Commander to try to dualboot and hopefully see WinXP. No luck. Then uninstalled System Commander. Then could not load Linux - at boot-up time the screen displayed the word GRUB and just hung there. I then reinstalled a completely new filesystem selecting LILO as the bootloader but I still get GRUB appearing at boot up time and my screen just sits there. Can someone PLEASE, PLEASE, help me. I am very eager to learn more about Linux (as I firmly believe in what it represents to the computing community) and to use it BUT my kids still need to work with their other OS apps so I need the dual boot facility. I have a P4 @ 2.4GHz; 1Gb RAM; Gigabyte 8PENXP mobo with hyperthreading; on-board network adaptor and on-board sound.; an NVIDIA G4 graphics card with 128Mb. My primary IDE master is a Seagate 120Gb ATA drive; a DVD-RW drive as Secondary Master; and 2 SiliconImage SATA Seagate drives that hold the other OS. PLEASE, PLEASE, HELP...... Andrew. |
